# Moving Away from the Extension to Managed Monitoring

In 2024 we launched Groups Watcher as a Chrome extension and it helped us prove strong demand for Facebook group monitoring.
In 2025 we began moving toward a managed professional plan so teams can get faster alerts with stronger relevance and less operational friction.

## Why we changed the model

1. The extension required each user to monitor with a personal Facebook account and group membership
2. The extension required a laptop or desktop and a device that stayed online
3. Some users missed around 15 percent of posts due to platform level constraints
4. Keyword matching alone produced noise for many users
5. Alert speed was often three to seven minutes and late response can cost deals and brand opportunities

## What the professional plan solves

1. Monitoring runs on our servers with our own accounts
2. Users do not need to keep a browser extension open
3. Coverage is wider including strict communities that are hard for many users to join directly
4. Accuracy is much stronger with very low missed post rates
5. Relevance goes beyond keyword matching with AI scoring for context and intent
6. Users can choose highly relevant alerts, every new post, or keyword only alerts
7. Alert speed is under 60 seconds for the professional plan

## Outcomes we observed

In internal tests users who moved from the extension to the professional plan saw about five times more high quality opportunities.
Better coverage and cleaner relevance helped teams close more deals and catch more brand praise and complaints at the right moment.

## Product positioning going forward

The Chrome extension remains useful for personal one time use cases.
The professional plan is the recommended path for business workflows, lead generation, and brand listening where speed, reliability, and relevance are mission critical.
